Analysis: McCullers has allowed no earned runs in his past 20 1/3 innings, lowering his ERA to 2.65 and WHIP to 1.09. His next start will be Tuesday against the Tigers. He has a 2.08 ERA in four starts at Houston this season, and in his only career start against Detroit back in 2015, he gave up two runs over six innings in a 3-2 victory at Comerica Park.

Analysis: Teammate Dallas Keuchel has been getting all the attention, but McCullers is on quite a roll of his own. The hard-throwing right-hander has yielded just two earned runs and held opposing hitters to a .176 average over his past three starts, a stretch in which he's fanned 21 in 19 1/3 innings.

Analysis: The hard-throwing right-hander has now racked up 46 strikeouts, second only to Chris Sale for tops in the majors. McCullers' other numbers have been less consistent, but he draws a seemingly favorable matchup at the Angels on Saturday. The 23-year-old fanned eight while yielding three hits over 6 2/3 scoreless innings to defeat Anaheim on April 20.

Analysis: McCullers did not allow a hit until Angels shortstop Andrelton Simmons opened the fifth inning with a single, and he surrendered just three singles total before exiting following back-to-back walks with two outs in the seventh. The right-hander recorded eight strikeouts against three walks and has allowed three or fewer runs in each of his 23 career home starts while going 11-4 with a 2.08 ERA at Minute Maid Park.

Analysis: McCullers has allowed three or fewer runs in each of his 22 starts at Minute Maid Park. The only pitcher in club history with such a streak is Larry Dierker, who did so in 22 consecutive starts in 1970-72.

Analysis: He threw 43 pitches to catcher Evan Gattis on a back field in an outing that simulated three innings, showcasing a fastball that touched 95 mph. Astros manager A.J. Hinch wanted to wait until he learned how McCullers felt on Sunday before committing to a date for the righty's first spring start.
