Aug. 25 4:02 PM PT5:02 PM MT6:02 PM CT7:02 PM ET11:02 PM GMT7:02 AM 北京时间4:02 PM MST6:02 PM EST-Oswalt became the first Phillies pitcher to play a position in the field in 39 years, playing in left after Ryan Howard was ejected in the 14th inning.
Analysis: Oswalt caught a routine fly ball and grounded into the final out. The last pitcher to play a position was Bill Wilson on Aug. 6, 1971. Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said he decided to put Oswalt in the outfield because of his athleticism. The former Astros pitcher routinely shags fly balls in the outfield during batting practice.
Aug. 23 2:27 PM PT3:27 PM MT4:27 PM CT5:27 PM ET9:27 PM GMT5:27 AM 北京时间2:27 PM MST4:27 PM EST-Oswalt struck out eight in seven sharp innings and led the Phillies to a 6-0 win over the Nationals on a rainy Sunday.
Analysis: Oswalt has won three straight starts for the first time this season, helping the wild-card leading Phillies try to make a move on Atlanta for the NL East lead. "When you're playing at the end of the season, it's not near as intense as trying to get back into the postseason," Oswalt said.
Aug. 12 5:41 PM PT6:41 PM MT7:41 PM CT8:41 PM ET12:41 AM GMT8:41 AM 北京时间5:41 PM MST7:41 PM EST-Oswalt allowed five hits and struck out five in seven innings in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Dodgers.
Analysis: The three-time All-Star right-hander, acquired from Houston before the non-waiver trade deadline, pitched twice on the road before making his home debut against Los Angeles. "There's a lot more adrenaline than when your pitching in front of 15,000 fans trying to get to the end of the season," Oswalt said. "I don't get caught up looking around, but you can hear it's a lot louder."
Aug. 6 11:42 AM PT12:42 PM MT1:42 PM CT2:42 PM ET6:42 PM GMT2:42 AM 北京时间11:42 AM MST1:42 PM EST-Oswalt, making his second start for the Phillies since being acquired in a trade with Houston, allowed two runs and three hits over 6 1-3 innings of Thursday's 5-4, 10-inning win over Florida.
Analysis: Oswalt is 0-1 with a 4.38 ERA in two starts since being acquired by the Phillies.
July 31 3:26 PM PT4:26 PM MT5:26 PM CT6:26 PM ET10:26 PM GMT6:26 AM 北京时间3:26 PM MST5:26 PM EST-Oswalt, a former 20-game winner acquired from Houston in a four-player trade Thursday, allowed five runs - four earned - and seven hits in six innings in Friday's 8-1 loss to the Nationals. He walked two, struck out four and hit two batters.
Analysis: Pitching in a meaningful game in the NL East, where the Phillies are chasing first-place Atlanta, instead of for the fifth-place Astros was a big change for Oswalt. "I came out amped up, held the ball a little tight," said Oswalt, who absorbed his major league-leading 13th defeat. "Didn't really start feeling better until the last two innings. Didn't really go my way."
July 29 1:34 PM PT2:34 PM MT3:34 PM CT4:34 PM ET8:34 PM GMT4:34 AM 北京时间1:34 PM MST3:34 PM EST-Oswalt gave his OK to a trade from Houston to Philadelphia on Thursday, becoming the latest ace to join the hard-charging Phillies. Oswalt joins a rotation headed by star Roy Halladay, acquired from Toronto in the offseason.
Analysis: St. Louis also had been bargaining for Oswalt. He had a no-trade clause in his contract and could decide whether to accept any deal. The 32-year-old Oswalt was 6-12 despite a 3.24 ERA for Houston. The Astros were shut out in five of his 20 starts. Oswalt is 143-82 with a 3.24 ERA in 10 seasons with the Astros. He is due about $5.33 million the rest of this season from his $15 million salary and is owed $16 million in 2011.
July 25 9:48 AM PT10:48 AM MT11:48 AM CT12:48 PM ET4:48 PM GMT12:48 AM 北京时间9:48 AM MST11:48 AM EST-Oswalt allowed nine hits and six runs in five innings as the Astros lost 7-0 to Cincinnati on Saturday.
Analysis: Oswalt was looking for his 144th career victory, which would have tied him with Joe Niekro for first place on the team's all-time win list. Instead he took another loss, which could be his last as an Astro with the July 31st trade deadline approaching. Oswalt said the pressure of the trade deadline and trying to match the record didn't bother him on the mound. He's scheduled to face Milwaukee on Friday - if he's still wearing an Astros uniform at that time.
July 24 1:10 PM PT2:10 PM MT3:10 PM CT4:10 PM ET8:10 PM GMT4:10 AM 北京时间1:10 PM MST3:10 PM EST-Oswalt left Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates after four innings due to a left ankle contusion.
Analysis: Oswalt, who was attempting to tie the franchise record for career victories in the outing, was struck in the foot by a sharply-hit ground ball by Pedro Alvarez in the second inning. He had a streak of 17 1-3 scoreless innings before that but retired only seven of the ensuing 14 batters he faced, allowing two runs on seven hits with five strikeouts.
July 9 12:33 PM PT1:33 PM MT2:33 PM CT3:33 PM ET7:33 PM GMT3:33 AM 北京时间12:33 PM MST2:33 PM EST-Oswalt pitched a one-hitter in a 2-0 win over Pittsburgh on Thursday, a second consecutive brilliant start as he nears what could be his final days in Houston.
Analysis: Oswalt, who requested a trade earlier this season, pitched seven shutout innings at San Diego last Friday and was even better Thursday, allowing only a first-inning single to Neil Walker along with two walks, a hit batsman and eight strikeouts. "They pay you to pitch and that's what I'm going to do until it's time to go somewhere else," he said.
July 3 3:51 PM PT4:51 PM MT5:51 PM CT6:51 PM ET10:51 PM GMT6:51 AM 北京时间3:51 PM MST5:51 PM EST-Oswalt struck out seven while holding San Diego to three singles and two walks in seven innings, but didn't get a decision in a 3-0 loss to the Padres on Friday.
Analysis: Oswalt came in with a 10-2 record against San Diego. He has allowed three or fewer runs in 13 of his last 15 starts against the Padres.
June 28 12:55 PM PT1:55 PM MT2:55 PM CT3:55 PM ET7:55 PM GMT3:55 AM 北京时间12:55 PM MST2:55 PM EST-Oswalt had his worst outing of the season in a 10-1 loss to Texas on Sunday.
Analysis: Rangers president Nolan Ryan confirmed the team's interest in trading for Oswalt, but he certainly wouldn't want him to pitch like he did Sunday. He gave up eight runs (seven earned) and seven hits (five for extra bases) with four walks, three strikeouts and two wild pitches. "I was missing spots, throwing it over the middle of the plate," Oswalt said.
June 25 5:17 PM PT6:17 PM MT7:17 PM CT8:17 PM ET12:17 AM GMT8:17 AM 北京时间5:17 PM MST7:17 PM EST-Rangers president and Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan has publicly acknowledged his team's interest in acquiring the 32-year-old right-hander. Oswalt, who has requested a trade, says that would be OK with him.
Analysis: Oswalt is scheduled to start against Texas on Sunday. Oswalt (5-9, 3.08 ERA) is making $15 million this year. He is scheduled to make $16 million in 2011, and the same in 2012 though the Astros could option out of that final year for $2 million.
June 17 4:44 PM PT5:44 PM MT6:44 PM CT7:44 PM ET11:44 PM GMT7:44 AM 北京时间4:44 PM MST6:44 PM EST-Oswalt allowed two runs over seven innings and struck out seven while winning consecutive starts for only the second time this season Wednesday night in Kansas City.
Analysis: The 4-2 victory gives Oswalt (5-8, 3.12 ERA) a 2.57 ERA over his last two outings and his next chance to add another win could come Tuesday night against San Francisco. The right-hander is 0-2 with a 3.46 ERA in two starts this season versus the Giants and 5-7 with a 3.67 ERA in 15 all-time matchups.
June 12 3:34 PM PT4:34 PM MT5:34 PM CT6:34 PM ET10:34 PM GMT6:34 AM 北京时间3:34 PM MST5:34 PM EST-Oswalt, who has wondered aloud if a trade might be best for him and the team, is keeping his options open. New York ``is just as good as every other city,'' the Mississippi native said. ``Every city I go to is big. It's different from where I grew up but baseball is baseball no matter where you play.''
Analysis: General manager Ed Wade refused to talk about any potential deals. ``I think there's really no value to it, on our part,'' he said.
June 11 10:23 AM PT11:23 AM MT12:23 PM CT1:23 PM ET5:23 PM GMT1:23 AM 北京时间10:23 AM MST12:23 PM EST-Oswalt struck out nine and gave up two runs on four hits and the Astros beat the Rockies 5-4 Thursday for their third straight victory.
Analysis: Oswalt is 8-2 in his career against the Rockies, including a one-hitter in Coors Field on Sept. 6, 2008.
June 1 3:00 PM PT4:00 PM MT5:00 PM CT6:00 PM ET10:00 PM GMT6:00 AM 北京时间3:00 PM MST5:00 PM EST-A Major League Baseball official says umpire Bill Hohn will be addressed ``in a very stern way'' after a confrontation with Oswalt led to the ejection of the Astros' ace.
Analysis: Bob Watson, the vice president in charge of discipline, rules and on-field operations for MLB, tells Houston television station KRIV that Oswalt will not be penalized further after Monday's incident. After missing the strike zone with a pitch against Washington's Josh Willingham, Oswalt looked toward the first base line and yelled something. Hohn took off his mask and yelled at Oswalt, who responded, ``I ain't talking to you!'' Hohn then ejected Oswalt.
May 31 3:20 PM PT4:20 PM MT5:20 PM CT6:20 PM ET10:20 PM GMT6:20 AM 北京时间3:20 PM MST5:20 PM EST-Oswalt was ejected in the third inning of Monday's game against Washington for arguing with home plate umpire Bill Hohn.
Analysis: Oswalt missed the strike zone and got into a shouting match with Hohn. Hohn took off his mask and yelled back at Oswalt. The pitcher responded, ``I ain't talking to you!'' Hohn then ejected Oswalt. Oswalt has acknowledged his frustration with the Astros' dismal start and about two weeks ago, his agent asked the team to trade him.
May 27 1:06 PM PT2:06 PM MT3:06 PM CT4:06 PM ET8:06 PM GMT4:06 AM 北京时间1:06 PM MST3:06 PM EST-Oswalt had his agent contact owner Drayton McLane last week and request a trade, if the team continues to slump, but any speculation that the trade talk was bothersome was quickly resolved as Oswalt threw eight dominant innings, walked one, allowed four hits, and struck out nine of his final 16 batters as the Astros beat the Brewers 5-0 on Wednesday.
Analysis: Oswalt's 2.35 ERA is one of the lowest in the NL and he came in tied for the major league lead with nine quality starts but the right-hander also had the league's lowest run-support average (2.07).
May 21 5:37 PM PT6:37 PM MT7:37 PM CT8:37 PM ET12:37 AM GMT8:37 AM 北京时间5:37 PM MST7:37 PM EST-Oswalt wants out of Houston. General manager Ed Wade said Oswalt's agent, Bob Garber, contacted owner Drayton McLane earlier this week to make the request. When asked if it was a request or a demand, Wade said that distinction didn't matter.
Analysis: Wade said he wants to win with Oswalt, who has a no-trade clause he recently said he'd be willing to waive. Oswalt has made nine straight quality starts to open the season but is 2-6 with a 2.66 ERA. He has gotten the lowest run support in the league.
May 21 12:04 PM PT1:04 PM MT2:04 PM CT3:04 PM ET7:04 PM GMT3:04 AM 北京时间12:04 PM MST2:04 PM EST-Oswalt allowed three runs and three hits with eight strikeouts in six innings in Thursday's 4-0 loss to the Rockies.
Analysis: Oswalt extended his streak of quality starts to nine. That's the longest such streak to start a season for an Astro since Roger Clemens had nine in a row in 2005. The Astros have struggled to score runs with Oswalt pitching. His 2.07 run support average is the worst in the majors.
May 14 4:17 PM PT5:17 PM MT6:17 PM CT7:17 PM ET11:17 PM GMT7:17 AM 北京时间4:17 PM MST6:17 PM EST-Oswalt says he would waive the full no-trade clause in his contract if Houston wants to try to shop him this season. However, he also says he would like to stay with the Astros and help them win. Houston went into Friday night's game at San Francisco with a four-game winning streak, but still had the worst record in the National League.
Analysis: Oswalt is 2-4 with a 2.63 ERA and has struggled to get run support this season. He pitches Saturday against two-time Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum. The 32-year-old Oswalt originally made his comments to Sirius XM Radio on Thursday night.
Apr. 30 11:23 AM PT12:23 PM MT1:23 PM CT2:23 PM ET6:23 PM GMT2:23 AM 北京时间11:23 AM MST1:23 PM EST-Oswalt gave up eight hits and three runs while striking out seven in seven innings of a 4-2 loss to Cincinnati on Thursday night.
Analysis: It was Oswalt's first start since returning from Mississippi where he helped his parents clean up after their home was destroyed in a tornado on Saturday. Oswalt had won his last eight decisions. His second career loss to the Reds still leaves him at 23-2 against them.
Apr. 27 3:34 PM PT4:34 PM MT5:34 PM CT6:34 PM ET10:34 PM GMT6:34 AM 北京时间3:34 PM MST5:34 PM EST-Oswalt has rejoined the Astros after spending several days with his parents in Mississippi helping them recover from tornado damage.
Analysis: Oswalt (2-2, 2.42 ERA) plans to make his next start as scheduled on Thursday against Cincinnati.
Apr. 24 6:19 PM PT7:19 PM MT8:19 PM CT9:19 PM ET1:19 AM GMT9:19 AM 北京时间6:19 PM MST8:19 PM EST-Oswalt returned to Mississippi on Saturday after his parents' home was damaged in a tornado. Oswalt grew up in Weir, Miss., where his parents still live. A deadly tornado ripped through the state Saturday, splintering homes and tearing the roofs off businesses.
Analysis: Astros general manager Ed Wade said Oswalt's parents, Billy and Jean, were not injured. Wade said he expects Oswalt to rejoin the team by Tuesday. He's due to make his next start next Thursday.
Apr. 24 5:09 PM PT6:09 PM MT7:09 PM CT8:09 PM ET12:09 AM GMT8:09 AM 北京时间5:09 PM MST7:09 PM EST-Oswalt allowed four hits, two earned runs and struck out four in the Astros' 4-3 win over Pittsburgh on Friday night.
Analysis: Oswalt has been awfully impressive over his last two starts, winning both and posting a 1.29 ERA. Perhaps he's returning to his All-Star form after a relatively subpar 2009.
Apr. 24 2:09 PM PT3:09 PM MT4:09 PM CT5:09 PM ET9:09 PM GMT5:09 AM 北京时间2:09 PM MST4:09 PM EST-Oswalt is returning to Mississippi after his parents' home was damaged in a tornado. He grew up in Weir, Miss., where his parents still live. A tornado moved across at least three Mississippi counties Saturday, killing two people, injuring several others and ripping the tops off of buildings.
Analysis: Astros general manager Ed Wade says he expects Oswalt to rejoin the team by Tuesday. He's due to make his next start next Thursday. Oswalt pitched seven innings in Houston's 4-3 win over Pittsburgh on Friday night.
Apr. 18 9:19 AM PT10:19 AM MT11:19 AM CT12:19 PM ET4:19 PM GMT12:19 AM 北京时间9:19 AM MST11:19 AM EST-Oswalt allowed five hits over seven scoreless innings for his first win, and the Houston Astros hung on to beat the Chicago Cubs 4-3 Saturday.
Analysis: A tough-luck loser in his first two starts, Oswalt took sole possession of second place on the Astros' career wins list with his 138th victory and moved ahead of Larry Dierker, his first major league manager. He now trails Joe Niekro by six after striking out six without a walk, mixing a sharp change with his fastball.
Apr. 12 3:46 PM PT4:46 PM MT5:46 PM CT6:46 PM ET10:46 PM GMT6:46 AM 北京时间3:46 PM MST5:46 PM EST-Oswalt struck out eight and allowed five hits in six innings Sunday, but was outdueled by Roy Halladay in a 2-1 loss to Philadelphia.
Analysis: He lost for the first time in his last seven decisions against Philadelphia, but the strong outing was a good sign after Oswalt dealt with a hamstring problem this spring. He'll hope for another good start at Chicago on Saturday.
Apr. 4 7:24 PM PT8:24 PM MT9:24 PM CT10:24 PM ET2:24 AM GMT10:24 AM 北京时间7:24 PM MST9:24 PM EST-Oswalt is relieved to be healthy and ready to start Houston's season opener against San Francisco.
Analysis: Oswalt had a little scare when his left hamstring tightened up during a spring start against the Pittsburgh Pirates on March 26. The ace returned to Houston and received an injection in his back, clearing the way for him to extend his club record to eight consecutive opening-day starts. Oswalt, who will face two-time National League Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum on Monday, said taking the mound on opening day is never routine.
Mar. 26 3:15 PM PT4:15 PM MT5:15 PM CT6:15 PM ET10:15 PM GMT6:15 AM 北京时间3:15 PM MST5:15 PM EST-Oswalt was headed back to Houston to be examined by a team doctor after the right-hander left Friday's start against the Pirates with a slight left hamstring strain. General Manager Ed Wade said Friday that Oswalt first experienced pain on the same side Sunday after his start against the Mets was rained out and he pitched in the bullpen. Oswalt felt a pinch or tug on his rear end a few pitches into his session.
Analysis: Oswalt gave up one run on three hits over four innings and struck out six against the Pirates before his early exit. He threw 60 pitches. Friday was just his third outing of the spring. He had recorded just six innings thanks to a pair of rainouts. Wade said Oswalt will be examined by Dr. David Lintner on Friday night or Saturday morning.
Mar. 20 10:07 AM PT11:07 AM MT12:07 PM CT1:07 PM ET5:07 PM GMT1:07 AM 北京时间10:07 AM MST12:07 PM EST-Oswalt will be the Astros' opening day starter for the eighth consecutive year, extending his club record when Houston opens its season against the San Francisco Giants on April 5 at Minute Maid Park. Houston manager Brad Mills made the announcement Saturday before his team played the Yankees at Osceola County Stadium.
Analysis: Oswalt hasn't allowed a run in two starts and 6 innings of work this spring. He's coming off a his only single-digit win season and failed to reach 200 innings pitched for the first time since an injury-plagued 2003. Oswalt went 8-6 with a 4.12 ERA in 181 1-3 innings in 2009. He posted a 1.24 WHIP and struck out 138.
Mar. 6 1:18 PM PT2:18 PM MT3:18 PM CT4:18 PM ET9:18 PM GMT5:18 AM 北京时间2:18 PM MST4:18 PM EST-Oswalt threw two rocky, yet scoreless innings in his spring debut and the Houston Astros beat the Atlanta Braves 3-0 Saturday.
Analysis: Oswalt walked three and loaded the bases in the first. He allowed just one hit and struck out two while throwing 44 pitches. It's early, so fantasy players should not be too concerned with this outing from Oswalt.
